Art of Animation Little Mermaid Standard Room Review | Walt Disney World

We stayed at the Art of Animation resort last September in one of the Little Mermaid standard rooms for the first time. (Yes, this is late!) The Art of Animation resort in Walt Disney World has family suites for the most part, but one area has standard room in the theme of The Little Mermaid. As with the other value resorts in Walt Disney World, the themes are very large and in-your-face. We actually don't mind it, but some adults prefer the subtle theming at moderate or deluxe resorts. (If it was Frozen-themed, I'd have another opinion.... That's a discussion for another day.)
The resort is the newest resort at Walt Disney World and everything certainly looks fresh! The lobby is gorgeous (despite the fact that it isn't a grandiose lobby like the deluxe resorts have) and the food court is one of the highest rated on site hotel quick service in Walt Disney World. (Keep in mind, though, that they do not have Mickey Waffles for breakfast, which might be disappointing if you're expecting it. They do serve Nemo/Lion King/Cars/Little Mermaid waffles, though.)
We really loved the room. We thought the themes thoroughly brought Ariel to life. There were beautiful touches everywhere, including whos-its and whats-its on the shower walls. If you're a fan of the movie at all, you will enjoy it. We had a king bed rather than two double beds. This allowed for a little more room for luggage than we had at the Pop Century resort on a previous stay.
All in all, it's definitely the best option in the value tier and we will definitely stay again on a future visit. I even dare to say we prefer this over moderates due to it's wonderful design execution.
